South Korea defeats Portugal and snatches qualification for the round of 16 from Uruguay in the World Cup

The South Korean national team qualified for the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, after its exciting victory over its counterpart, Portugal, 2-1, in the meeting that brought them together on Friday evening, at the “Education City” stadium, within the competitions of the third and final round of Group Eight, in the group stage of the tournament.


Portugal opened the scoring early, just 6 minutes into the match, through Ricardo Horta, after following Diogo Dalot's cross.


Kim Young Jong scored the equalizing goal for South Korea in the 27th minute of the match.


In the second half, South Korea succeeded in snatching the second goal in the first minute of time instead of lost for the match, after receiving a wonderful pass from Heung-Min Son.


South Korea finished second in Group D, with 4 points, ahead of the Uruguay national team, which is equal to it in number of points and goal difference, and Portugal tops the group with 6 points.
